Don't Bite Your Lip, scream it out loud: New Cassettes at the Roadmender

Phew, what to say about New Cassettes? Having released their second studio album Winterhead earlier in April (yes, an album called Winterhead in the Spring) on none other than MTV's Hype Music then gone on to support the incredibly named We Were Promised Jetpacks on their recent twenty-seven stop American tour, the indie pop punk five piece are without a doubt one of the biggest bands to make it outside of Northampton of the noughties - and there's no way they've finished yet.

Eleven tracks of massive-sounding guitar hooks, Winterhead was a euphoric second coming sprung forth with enough energy to bring whole crowds to their feet (twenty-seven crowds to be exact in the first two months alone). Towards the end, however, the band hint at a slightly darker, post-punkier sound between their constantly anthemic choruses; the only anticlimax: well, it hasn't been released on cassette!

Unarguably the "poppiest" song on the album, Bite Your Lip has been chosen to follow on from the distorted brilliance of Silent Guns as Winterhead's amazing second single. The feel-good indie tune certainly sets the mood for this summer - infectious bubbly melodies blasting some absolutely awesome rays of sunshine into a gentle stroll through the park or giant outdoor party alike - and that's exactly why the band are giving you the chance to appear in the music video filmed tomorrow (Friday 13th - unlucky eh?) at The Roadmender with an all night showcase of some of our county's best. So smash up your vinyls and shatter your CDs, it's those New Cassettes all the way!
