Persona1600 returns with a new single, EP and remixes to boot

Persona1600

Packaged alongside an atmospheric B-side and remixes from Default Rock Star and Polyp, Persona1600's Title Screen opens with a mechanical jolting not too dissimilar from the sound my printer makes. Then an instrument somewhere between an 80's video game chiptune and a xylophone joins the mix, before concluding, cheerfully, but with an almost dubsteppy coarseness to it as well.

It's his Mechanical Mind EP however that I'm really getting enthusiastic about. Sampling pearls of wisdom from Marshall McLuhan, the first song to wash over you is the blissfully ambient Attention Trap (described cheekily by Persona1600 as: "For your (her?) pleasure"). From there Dissociation's thick, pulsating bassline takes control; and while it may be rooted firmly in rave, Ghosts Of Ecstasy does seem to have a slight despondency about it. And with a prominent bassline and simmering strings, Inner Beauty eases the EP to a close.
