Album Review: Charlotte Tomkinson - Gypsy

For twenty seven year old Charlotte Tomkinson life has been by no means easy. Diagnosed with several severe mental illnesses from an incredibly early age, Charlotte has walked a path blighted by depression, OCD and dismorphia for virtually all of her life. Trapped in a vicious circle of bullies and self-harming, she eventually sought help from YoungMinds - a UK-based mental health charity - and has now taken on the challenge of creating an album from which all proceeds are donated to helping their fantastic cause.

After much hard graft, Gypsy comes as the fruit of those labours (named so because it's what people used to taunt her with as a teenager), containing sixteen songs of everything from the hollowest acoustic blues to the most rebellious rock and roll. But most of all, Charlotte Tomkinson, you are an inspiration to us all.
