A-R-D-R-I-V-E: Northants dubstep going in 'ardd

In 2012 a Northamptonian electro trio were sent to prison by a military court for a crime they didn't commit. These men promptly escaped from a maximum security stockade to release a free EP celebrating the relaunch of Portland's Phantom Hertz bass label online. Today, still wanted by the government, they survive as producers of dubstep. If you have a problem, if no one else can help, and if you can find them, maybe you can listen to rancid wobbles of the A-R-D-R-I-V-E crew.

The Wevaman: with basslines of a malfunctioning robot vomiting up after a hard night raving, his tunes penetrate deep and dirty. There's a bucketload of disgustingly heavy material getting released on Phatom Hertz later this year.

Markzman: he collaborates with Wevaman way too much for me to pinpoint exactly the full extent of his input but whenever Markzman touches a beat it creates this odd chilling atmosphere before dropping into a killer bassline.

Jam P R D: the unofficial leader of the pack, Jamie (Jam for short, as you do) is the kind of producer who can get you hooked in on his music before it's even begun to enter that manic state of bassy destruction. It's almost as if he has his own "Guaranteed Banging FX" making button!

Nincy Boi: an angry young MC and a powerful rapper putting his own grimy spin on the Dirty South sound that even Smash Down TV can only describe "unique." Please, buy his records, then maybe he'll be able to afford a t-shirt for the next time he shoots a music video.

Threatz & Brandz: not technically members of the crew but they're a talented young dubstep/grime duo that have done a couple of collaborations when they're not busy producing their own underground bangers.

Mikey B: could be part of the group (should be part of the group) but that's really neither here nor there. What is, though, is that Mikey's a producer and remixer of venemous dubstep, anthemic electro house as well as an absolutely insane DJ. There's a reason Nincy collaborates with him more than A-R-D-R-I-V-E.
