EP Review: Persona1600 - Back From Nowhere

Being named after an early French computer, does that make Persona1600's real name Persona Mille Six Cent? You never know, he could even be Fiddy's younger cousin! One thing I am sure of though is that the Back From Nowhere EP is an incredible step in a chilling, more ambient direction from one of Northampton's most exciting techno producers today.

The unfurling, daunting opener Looking Out Forever has intensity that would strike fear into even the bravest of hearts, whilst robotic synths and extraterrestrial vocals make 10000 Feet the closest to Persona's dancefloor-crazy debut album A Rise To Nowhere. And after Cursed Machine immerses back into the post-dubstep abyss, the EP is concluded in one luscious final sweep by the gorgeous ambiance of Coma Fantasy. Probably closer to Four Tet's younger cousin that 50 Cent's though!
